Details
[Edit]Coming out of Ghana, Sarkodie (also known as OBIDIBI) is well known in his African homeland, revered for local hit singles like "Baby," "Lay Away," and "Altar." He signed with Akon's Konvict Music in 2009, and Rapperholic is his first album released in the States. He has a distinct accent and often raps in his native tongue: two things that have traditionally held back foreign emcees in the U.S. market. Yet he's got a charismatic, instantly likeable flow and some surprisingly diverse production from Jayso, Kaywa, and Killbeatz. It's somewhat overloaded with guest artists like Castro, Mugeez, Tinny, Ikechukwu, Obrafour, and many more (of the 18 tracks, only 2 of them feature Sarkodie solo), but most of them are pretty dope, and you can't blame the guy for putting on his crew. Don't miss "Luxury," "Old School Love," "Friends," and "When I Grow Up."
