Details
[Edit]Saul Stokes is a renaissance man and a man for all seasons. Like many of his peers and colleagues, he has technical and engineering abilities that complement his musical artistry. Given that extra talent, Stokes builds his own synthesizers. He recorded Fields on hand-forged electronics that he designed and created. (He kept the whole thing in his family.) The artwork is by his sister-in-law, Johnine Majchrowicz. She is married to Stokes' brother Ian Stokes, an avant-garde musician in his own right. As expected, Stokes gets a unique sound from his personal arsenal of gadgetry. There are elements of the Berlin school, for which the Binary sublabel was founded, and atmospheric minimalism, the mainstay of the Hypnos label. Stokes does not get pigeonholed to one style. Diversity is his forte.
