[Edit]Scott Wesley Brown possesses a powerfully growly voice that allows him to straddle the line between traditional praise music and contemporary pop. Somebody's Brother is produced and co-written by Greg Nelson, who made his name working with inspirational music superstars Sandi Patti and Steve Green; much of the album — particularly the second side — reflects that experience. On songs like "The Name of Jesus is Excellent," "Praise Be to God Our Lord" and "When Answers Aren't Enough," Nelson provides Brown with the same stirring string arrangements and opportunities for emotive praise belting he gives his other clients. But Brown also demonstrates his ability to rock on the opening "Goliath" and "Then He Comes." The two styles clash a little, but considering the diversity of the music, it's impressive that the album is as listenable as it is.
