Details
[Edit]A Houston-based collective assembled by the visionary DJ Screw, The Screwed Up Click (SUC for short) are an imposing crew that include Lil' Flip, Big Moe, Trae Tha Truth, Lil' Keke, H.A.W.K., Big Pokey, Lil' O, Mr. 3-2, Fat Pat, E.S.G., Chris Ward, Fat Pat, Z-Ro, Mike D, and the Mo City Don. Both DJ Screw and Big Moe are no longer with us, and H.A.W.K. was murdered 10 years ago, but the Screw legacy continues to flourish; it's evident every time you hear a slowed-down vocal clip on a rap song. Originally scheduled to be released in 2005, The Take Over is finally seeing the light of day. Although the SUC's profile is significantly lower now than it once was, this is still a great collection of songs from one of hip-hop's most original groups. Whether you were up on the grey tapes back in the day or are just discovering the SUC now, this is a seriously impressive collection. Check out "After the Club," "Loyalty and Betrayal," and "What's Going On."
