Details
[Edit]Sean Maguire's second album, Spirit, sustains a sweet, youthful pop sound throughout and features a selection nearly equal to his debut album. Spirit could use a little more spirit than it has, though, the kind that shows up on "Sweet Town (Mister Cab Driver)" and the reggae-spiked "Make It Right." Most of the songs are light dance numbers and when Sean Maguire sings a ballad, "Where Do Broken Hearts Go?," it makes sense that the ballads are limited. He has the thankless task of comparing his love to famous icons like Marilyn Monroe, Jimmy Dean, and Robin Hood (who's lost his bow). Sean Maguire's American counterpart would probably be Joey Lawrence, who also began with acting before departing into musical endeavors. Both singers have an appeal which may have more to do with their personality and looks than with their singing capabilities. Spirit is passable radio play, which is more than can be said for other actors who attempt a recording career.
