It's good to know that as of 2003, the independent music market continued to be a place where a man can grab an acoustic guitar and play it honestly and openly and people will pay money to hear it. He can also mess around with the guitar, play it out of tune, change to an entirely different song while in the middle of one that's already been started (à la Guided by Voices on Bee Thousand), and include random snippets of samples from TV and movies. If you're Lou Barlow, people will be able to look past these oddities and still find reason to pay tidy sums of money on Internet auction sites for such recordings. Because of that persistent interest, the people at Shrimper got together many of these recordings onto one album, Lou B's Wasted Pieces 87-93. There are some good songs on here, songs that are simply Barlow a cappella or an orchestrated instrumental. However, much of this is like picking through the garbage, looking for the few wasted pieces in order to find a few things worth salvaging. Most definitely this is for die-hard Sentridoh fans only.
