Details
[Edit]This compilation album centers on an album’s worth of new material from Eminem, who—surrounded by fellow rappers and musicians Big Sean, Royce da 5’9”, Slaughterhouse, and Yelawolf—works through his usual themes of violence and (self-admitted) misogyny with a shock jock’s flare for the dramatic. “Guts Over Fear,” with guest vocals from Sia, catches a vulnerable moment, while Yelawolf’s “Down” takes Freddie King’s “Goin’ Down” into sketchy territory. The album’s second half features songs from his label’s earlier days, with vintage hits from Em (“Lose Yourself,” including a demo version), 50 Cent (“In Da Club”), D12 (“Fight Music”), Obie Trice (“The Setup”), and Yelawolf (“Pop the Trunk”).
