[Edit]Despite its irreverent nod to the contemporary vowel-avoiding zeitgeist, SHXCXCHCXSH has produced an album of pointed creativity and artistic focus that you can't help but take seriously. With the anonymity-shrouded London label Avian as the duo's home, the influence of driving, harsh techno and industrial grit follow suit. But SHXCXCHCXSH finds a way to soften even the most rough-edged techno lashings with clever, often-detuned, and off-kilter melodies. Nods to dub techno and the experimental drum patterns of the likes of Mark Pritchard make for an album that's foreboding on the surface but perennially engaging.
