[Edit]The dozen performances on this CD are all taken from Sidney Bechet's famous sessions for Mezz Mezzrow's King Jazz label; in fact the CD (along with four other Storyville releases titled The King Jazz Story, Vols. 1-4) is part of the complete reissuance of that label's output. Since this is by far the briefest of the five CDs (at around 41 minutes), this one can be acquired last. However the music (hot quintet/sextets featuring Bechet, Mezzrow and sometimes trumpeter Hot Lips Page) is often quite exciting with the emphasis on blues and heated ensembles.
