As a strictly Rastafarian DJ, Sizzla has often courted controversy with his politically militant lyrics and bold criticism of Jamaican society. Taking Over continues this pattern, with lots of talk against Babylon and it's corrupt system. Sizzla's impassioned, manic delivery, showcased on tracks such as "Thought for Today" and "Reach," is what sets him apart from the rest of his contemporaries. Stalking the stage with his locks wrapped in a white turban, few can match the ferocious stage presence of Sizzla live. But this presence doesn't always translate onto a recording and except for the classic roots sound of tunes like "Somewhere Oh Oh" and "Fare," where his toasting is softer, Sizzla's strident vocals becomes wearing after a while.
