Details
[Edit]Slick Shoes is Green Day minus the Dookie. Vocalist Ryan Kepke sounds so much like Billie Joe Armstrong that note for note the two bands are practically interchangeable. With the first cut, "Another Day," Slick Shoes play a snappy, energized brand of punk. Songs like "Hide and Seek" and "Lucky" are hooky keepers. The tune "Have I Said Too Much" features the quirky, melodic lead and picking work of guitarist Greg Togawa. The cut is one of the discs' best. Chunky guitars, ecstatic drumming, and mid-song tempo changes are a mainstay on this release, helping to make Wake Up Screaming a comfortable pair of shoes.
