[Edit]The latest (and last) album of the band is a big turn in their career. The sound, for one, is really a return to the '80s, and so it is for most compositions. But "No Way Out," with its Jesus Lizard-like bass, "Seedman," with its very well-chosen guitar sound, and "Surprised Inside the Black Hole," an interesting rock song with a well-felt bugle solo; there are no big surprises in this disc. The songs are even, bass sometimes repetitive, and the will to do something too great spoils the whole thing, for Electrelite has been thought as a concept album dealing with the subject of life. This theme is concentrated at the very beginning of it, when the spermatozoa are fighting to be the chosen one. An allegory to the competition in the outside world. Well, who knows? Probably. But frightening if so. If this seems hard on this album, it is only because the other discs, and especially Plug, are so good; Electrelite seems insipid compared to them. But if you like a kind of disco pop/rock you will surely enjoy this CD, for there are good passages in every songs and surprises in this record.
