[Edit]Gracefully treading the line between modern pop-punk and classic power pop, this Washington D.C.-based quartet delivers a pretty much irresistible blend of tight harmonies, singalong melodies, and big, loud guitars on their second album (the first with their current, expanded lineup). They may be signed to a label better known for its reissues and nostalgia compilations than for releasing cutting-edge new music (though its roster does also boast neo-folk heroine Dar Williams), but lovers of great modern pop songcraft will ignore this one at their peril. Among the original songs, standouts include the beautifully crafted "50 in My Wallet" and the vinegar-and-sugar rush of "Down." And just to keep a smile on everyone's face, there's also a high-octane cover of Faith Hill's pop-country hit "Breathe." This album is a blast from beginning to end.
