[Edit]Four vignettes of concentrated sadness, Burning Kingdom has to be one of the darkest-sounding EPs released in the late 20th century. Particularly effective is the haunting "Reneé Died," which pits Cynthia Dall's frail voice against brittle acoustic guitars.
