Smooth Approach's self-titled CD is brief, with only eight songs. The group put most of their stock in uptempo hip-hop times but excel on sweet ballads, especially their shimmering remake of Switch's "I Wanna Be Closer," a red-light special grinder. They change bags on "Never Enough," a midtempo number with pop appeal, and "It's On" is an interlude of a song with the same title. Other notables include "Loverman" and "Would U Be Mine." An indication of better music to come from Jeff Roberson, Kerry Willis, Lawrence Harris, and Phlanoid Dismuke.
