A conversation with an international fashion designer inspired Software's Michael Weisser to create a series of compositions based on his interaction with eight different perfumes. Whatever the impetus, the end result is too much music with not enough "nose." The basic Software sound remains intact, with support from Georg Stettner and the godfather of German electronic music, Klaus Schulze. Eight tracks are dedicated to a particular scent, while the ninth track is a compendium of themes developed earlier; sort of a mixture of fragrances. The overall sound is typically German electronic new age art-rock with repetitive themes that modulate endlessly. Digital percussion and drum programming are pervasive, though there are gentle passages here and there. The cuts are lengthy (most around seven minutes) with a playing time of over 66 minutes. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi
