Spain's Souvenir made its American full-length debut with the 13-track Points de Suspension on Shelflife Records in 2002. The Spanish band, oddly enough, performs its songs in French, with Patricia de la Fuente gracefully leading the way on lead vocals. Her hushed vocals on "Comme d'Habitude" showcase the band's sophisticated style of indie pop, while tracks like "Au Bout du Compte" and "Des Tours Pour Audrey" highlight the band's style of danceable twee pop. The light, catchy beats and summery harmonies on "Spring Rain" (a Go-Betweens cover) and "Premier Essai" find the band at its best, gently executing a series of blissful pop songs. Throughout, horns and keyboards are combined with subtle drums. The Shelflife Records version of Points de Suspension includes the bonus tracks "Rues Arriere" and "Harley Davidson" (a Serge Gainsbourg cover). J'aime Cristóbal serves as the band's primary songwriter, and performs guitar, bass, keyboard, and programming on the album. Nine musicians perform on the disc, which was recorded at Lucas Studios in December 2000.
