Immaculate Conceptions, Stephanie Santé's follow-up to her critically acclaimed 1999 release, Into Light, is refreshingly different. Fans of Robert Rich's tribal period will probably enjoy Santé's Immaculate Conceptions, which is a radio-friendly blend of new age and ethno-musical ideas. Santé's greatest asset is that she has the uncanny ability to craft some really brilliant electronic music while at the same time making it very approachable by the lay-listener. Santé's music is simply enjoyable; you're not bombarded by heavy, pulsating, quasi-tribal beats or the bleeps and blurps that are common stylistic traits with a lot of electronic music. Instead, you have a soothing and appeasing recording — new age music at its best — with a little bit more of a contemplative vibe than usual and much wider array of sound and timbre. A good recording all and all, and one definitely worth exploring further.
