[Edit]This 1964 best-of is evenly divided between solo and duet recordings Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme waxed for ABC-Paramount in the '50s and early '60s. Two of Lawrence's three hits for the label, "Footsteps" and "Pretty Blue Eyes," are included, but none of Gorme's hits appear. The solo selections lean toward string-laden teen ballads like Gorme's "I Will Follow You" and Lawrence's "You're Nearer," while most of the duets are old-fashioned big-band performances of golden oldies such as Kay Kyser's "Who Wouldn't Love You" and the pop standard "Sentimental Journey." Whether these songs truly represent Steve & Eydie's best is a matter of opinion, but the fact remains that there has never been, on vinyl or CD, a comprehensive collection of the duo's hit singles.
