Twin Falls

On Twin Falls, pianist Deidre Rodman and bassist Steve Swallow perform melodic and lyrical originals as quiet duets. Although a few of the pieces are taken at faster tempos, most of the music is quite relaxed, thoughtful, melodic and a bit introspective. It is best to listen to these performances at a fairly loud volume to catch all of the subtle interplay because, otherwise, they will merely serve as background music. The pieces are mostly pretty brief (only three of the 17 performance are over three-minutes-and-thirty-nine seconds in length, and ten are under two minutes) and many do little more than set relaxed moods although Rodman and Swallow play quite well together, often thinking as one.
