Originally released as Someday at Christmas back in 1967, this album showcases a teenaged Stevie Wonder giving his own take on many holiday classics, plus a handful of originals. The instrumentation is more traditional, with full symphony orchestra backing up his exceptional vocals and harmonica, as Little Stevie puts his own spin on seasonal standards like "Silver Bells," "The Christmas Song," and "The Little Drummer Boy." He also shines on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Me" (originally featured on a Supremes Christmas album) and even pulls off singing in Latin on "Ave Marie." "Someday at Christmas" speaks of a future free of war, poverty, hunger, and racial injustice. This reissue also includes two great bonus tracks: "The Miracles of Christmas" and "Everyone's a Kid at Christmas." Overall, this is an outstanding collection and enjoyable change-up from the tried-and-true Christmastime soundtracks.
