Details
[Edit]Formed in 2003, Strong Arm Steady began as a bigger group (with Planet Asia, Xzibit, Chace Infinite, and DJ Khalil in the ranks) and was known mostly for fiery live shows and mixtapes like The Collectors Edition Vol. 1 and Gangs of L.A.. Since then, it's trimmed down to just three core members: longtime underground artists Mitchy Slick, Krondon, and Phil Da Agony. Strong Arm Steady's first official album, Deep Hearted, dropped in 2007, followed by In Search of Stoney Jackson and Arms & Hammer. On Stereotype, the trio links up with East Coast super-producer Statik Selektah, best known for his work with Termanology, Bumpy Knuckles, and Action Bronson. The result is some of Strong Arm Steady's best music to date, with Statik's always on-point, sample-drenched beatscapes perfectly complementing rhymes mostly about their love for California and real hip-hop. Black Hippy, Dom Kennedy, Bad Lucc, Skeme, and Reks all make guest appearances, while standouts include "Forever," "Through the Motions," and the appropriately titled bass-driven banger "Classic."
