This double-disc compilation serves as a great introduction to the band. It comprises material from the three studio albums that the band recorded prior to Luca Prodan's death in 1987. You can find great tunes like "Heroine," "El Reggae de Paz y Amor," "Cinco Magníficos," "Mañana en el Abasto," or "El Cieguito Volador." But there's not only material from that output. Some are extracted from the posthumous collection of rarities and live recordings Fiebre: "Aquí Vienen los Blue Jeans," "Brilla Tu Luz para Mi," and "Cállate Mark." It also includes a hard-to-find version of Pablo Milanés' "Años," a duo collaboration between Luca Prodan and Andrés Calamaro. As a collection, Obras Cumbres succeeds. It does include the band's best stuff and it's carefully ordered. It's highly recommended. ~ Iván Adaime, Rovi
