Details
[Edit]Marc Bolan was a superstar in England, beloved by rockers and little kids alike. In America, T. Rex—basically a vehicle for Bolan's songs and glam-icon persona—was the harbinger of one much adored classic rocker, "Bang a Gong (Get It On)." It was spun off Electric Warrior, one of the most distinctive albums of pre-punk British rock ever. Bolan came on like a sexy sprite, crooning beneath a bebop moon and throwing his hands in the air in exasperation to announce that "Life's a Gas." The record's ad hoc feeling, mix of electric and acoustic guitars, and Bolan's irresistible vocals (he's like some glitter beatnik babbling his way through "Rip Off") make it a statement both of its time and way beyond it. This special edition adds six bonus tracks to the original, including the immaculate "Raw Ramp," plus an entertaining contemporary interview with Bolan.
