[Edit]Yeah, Take 6 are a gospel vocal group at heart, but their fusion of gospel with street corner doo wop, jazzy African rhythms, and — on their recent albums — sparse but refreshing and inventive instrumentation makes them something else again, until it hardly matters if the music is secular or sacred. Take 6 simply make joyous music, so joyous that things like genre cease to matter. One, issued by Shanachie Records, is Take 6 once again in wonderful, glorious flight, featuring gorgeous and perfectly layered call-and-response vocals and interjections on tracks like "Down Here I've Done My Best," "One," and "Noah," making this set yet another testament in the group's already impressive catalog.
