Along Comes Tandyn features 15 songs written and demoed by Tandyn Almer for a music publisher in 1965 and 1966 in hopes of enticing others to record his songs. His best-known composition is the classic "Along Comes Mary," a hit for The Association in 1966. According to Parke Puterbaugh's liner notes in the digital booklet, the BMI online music registry has 75 songs that Almer wrote under contract for several music houses. Puterbaugh's notes are an essential part of this package, as they uncover this artist who long escaped the notoriety of his contemporaries, from Brian Wilson to Curt Boettcher. Almer's death on Jan. 8, 2013—as this project entered its final production stages—added an eerie counterpoint to a story already mired in obscurity and misfortune. However, anyone who's enjoyed the works of The Beach Boys, The Association, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Critters, Sagittarius, and many other melodic '60s pop-rock groups will find a kindred soul in the ambitious strains of "Everytime I Take You Back to Me," "Anything You Want," and "There's Gotta Be a Way."
