[Edit]Building on their own reputation as leaders in Canadian dance music, Temperance's release of If You Don't Know only served to reaffirm their talent. Throughout this assortment of contemporary pop, dance and soul ballads, songstress Lorraine Reid wraps her voice around Nick Fiorucci's expertly realized compositions. Effective covers of the Whitehead/McFadden classic "Ain't No Stopping Us Now," Erasure's "Chains of Love" and authentic rapping by Jamaica native Mystah Munroe blend well with uptempo disco-styled songs on this full-length disc. Standout songs are the ballads "Before You Ever Call Me Again" and "Out of My League." The title track is a mid-range dance number that intensifies its infectious groove as it progresses. With this invigorating release, Temperance extended their appeal beyond the parameters of dance music to include competently executed R&B.
