A side project of Run-D.M.C.'s Jam Master Jay, Kickin' Afrolistics was a satirical look at '70s blaxploitation films and the ever popular Afro. Filled with Jay's signature production and Beastie Boy DJ Hurricane helping to supply the rhymes and beats, it's a solid album that doesn't fail to deliver musically. However, while the satirical concept was original at the time, it seems a bit dated at present and wears thin after a while — especially when bordering on Digital Underground territory. For serious heads only.
