[Edit]Soon after the indefinite hiatus of Japanese punk rockers Rosso (who rose to prominence after the breakup of seminal rockers Thee Michelle Gun Elephant), guitarist/vocalist Yusuke Chiba pieced together the Birthday to continue the garage punk innovation. In the case of the Birthday, the band's goal was to incorporate members into the writing process, which led to a slightly more diverse sound in the finished product. On Teardrop, the band's second album, the sound of Chiba is still strong; along with the strong playing all around, Chiba's extremely emotive vocals over the top of "Kaminari Today" bear witness to the legacy of Thee Michelle Gun Elephant.
