Details
[Edit]The Casa Loma Orchestra made very few recordings after 1942, so this set of rare radio transcriptions are both historical and essential for swing collectors. Cornetist Red Nichols is featured on three numbers including a couple of very memorable Bill Challis arrangements: "Don't Take Your Love from Me" and "Dancing on the Ceiling." Cornetist Bobby Hackett is heard on five of the later selections, other soloists include the young guitarist Herb Ellis and pianist Lou Carter, and the arrangements of Challis, Carter and Ray Conniff gave the Casa Loma Orchestra a fresh new sound during the last years of the swing era. This LP is highly recommended.
