A compilation of material from their earliest cassette releases, the Cat's Miaow's A Kiss and a Cuddle is an often wonderful collection of brittle indie pop recalling the halcyon days of the Postcard and Sarah labels. Although a handful of songs arrive stillborn, clocking in at less than a minute each (some even under thirty seconds), the group's best material — "Aurora," "It Might Never Happen," "The Phoebe I Know," and "Third Floor Fire Escape View," to name just four of the record's two-dozen tracks — is stunning, the ethereal vocals of singer Kerrie and the group's jangly guitar sound coalescing to create sweet and fuzzy pop that's utterly winning.
