[Edit]Since Derek Fudesco formed The Cave Singers after the 2007 breakup of his band Pretty Girls Make Graves, it’s probably safe to assume the title of 2008’s Dancing on Our Graves is a nod toward his prior project. The strong EP opens with washboard and kick-drum percussion rattling and thumping under an arresting acoustic arpeggio. “Belmar” follows, sounding like a homemade recording where spare, acoustic guitar picking and foot-on-the-floor stomping accompanies Fudesco’s close harmonies with Amber Webber from Black Mountain. The more hushed “Backyards” closes, with Fudesco serenading over acoustic guitars and kitchen silverware percussion.
