[Edit]An American soul vocal group, the Chi-Lites were active in the 1960s and 1970s. The vocal arrangements feature tight harmonies and the high falsetto voice of lead tenor Eugene Record. The group's material breaks into three styles. First, there is the Christian social awareness expressed in "(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People" and "There Will Never Be Any Peace (Until God Is Sitting at the Conference Table)." "I Like Your Lovin' (Do You Like Mine)" is much more secular. In pieces like this, proto-funk arrangements back a Temptations-like vocal arrangement, with each vocalist staking a claim in his own range. Finally, songs like "Oh Girl" find the Chi-Lites singing classic love ballads.
