Details
[Edit]Comprising Dutch producer Nicolay and North Carolina rapper/singer Phonte (formerly of Little Brother), The Foreign Exchange earned a ton of hype for its 2004 debut, Connected, which was recorded entirely by sending tracks back and forth online (the two met via the message boards at OkayPlayer.com). The Foreign Exchange's sound appealed to a diverse group of listeners and won the duo a place in many year-end best-of lists. The Foreign Exchange returned with Leave It All Behind in 2008, scoring a GRAMMY nomination for the track "Daykeeper"; it also released Authenticity and Dear Friends: An Evening with the Foreign Exchange in 2010 and 2011, respectively. On Love in Flying Colors, the duo continues its mastery of grown-folks' music, with songs about true love, emotional stability, and the (real) good things in life. Musically, things are a little different than what we're used to (especially on the proto-house jam "The Moment"), and we get lots of guest singers in the mix. But it's still Phonte and Nicolay running the show, and it still sounds great. "Call It Home," "Right After Midnight," and "Better" are highlights.
