Details
[Edit]After three volumes from English stops on the tour, the Europe ’72 series continues in Denmark. There, The Grateful Dead treat their audience to a few new additions to the set list. Hank Williams’ “You Win Again,” Kris Kristofferson’s “Me and Bobby McGee,” an independent version of Marty Robbins’ “El Paso,” and Elmore James’ “It Hurts Me Too” are thrown in, with the Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter original “Loser” for fresh airings. The version of Garcia and Hunter’s “Brown-Eyed Women” made it to the 1972 triple LP Europe ’72, while the “Good Lovin’"/"Caution (Do Not Stop on Tracks)” medley was added as a bonus track to the expanded version. “Bertha,” “Black-Throated Wind,” “Chinatown Shuffle,” and “Loser” were singled out for the second volume of highlights from the entire tour. Yet equally deserving of inclusion would have been the half-hour performance here of “Dark Star” and its follow-up “Sugar Magnolia,” plus the “Not Fade Away"/"Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad” medley that ended the second set. How the band got away with just Bob Weir’s “One More Saturday Night” as an encore remains a mystery.
