It was almost 20 years since their last record together when the Ides of March re-formed to cut this one, a collection of recuts of their classic hits from the 1960s ("You Wouldn't Listen") and '70s ("Vehicle," "Aire of Good Feeling," "Bald Medusa," "L.A. Goodbye," and "Hot Water") and seven new tunes recorded expressly for this collection. Jim Peterik was the original heart and soul of the band, singing, writing, playing guitar, and producing, later going on to write hits for .38 Special and others. This disc finds him front and center, laying it down with an enthusiasm befitting a 20-year-old out to hustle his first record deal. With strong new material in the form of "Rebel Girl," "I'd Love Her Anyway," "Cry of the Wild Heart," "Reflection of Desire," "Love Don't Choose," "You, You, You," and the anthemic "Spirit of Chicago," this album charts new ground as well. Seldom do reunion albums muster this much energy and commitment from its members, but this one does in a big way.
