The Ink Spots hit the American Top Ten 19 times between 1939 and 1949; 13 of those Top Ten hits are among the 16 tracks on this British budget compilation, its contents licensed from MCA Records, which controls the Decca Records catalog, including the group's original recordings. Some of their biggest hits are missing, and there are covers of the standards "I'll Never Smile Again," "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie," and "I Cover the Waterfront" that were hits, but not for them. The result is a good sampling of the Ink Spots' most successful work that doesn't quite live up to the title.
