[Edit]The Jacka is a Bay Area legend who's been getting busy since his days with Mob Figaz, while Blanco's a fast-rising new jack who's been growing his rep over the last few years. On Obey, they team up with DJ Toure, who gives them a backdrop of seriously funky sample-heavy instrumentals, more in tune with the golden-era sound than the usual synths and 808-driven Hyphy/Go music that dominates the local market. The neckbreaking opener "Submit" sounds like a unreleased Poison Clan jam (definitely a good thing), while "No Imagination" talks about the wonders of international travel over a breezy old-school track and "Conform" flips a Curtis Mayfield favorite, adding massive boom-clacks and nice scratches. As usual, half the Bay shows up to lend a hand, with especially strong verses from Mistah F.A.B., Dru Down, Lee Majors, and Balance, plus L.A. homies Krondon, Mitchy Slick, and Phil Da Agony and bi-coastal cameo kingpin Freeway, who appears on three joints.
