[Edit]Originally from New Orleans, The Knux (real-life brothers Krispy and Joey) relocated to Los Angeles after Hurricane Katrina and made waves with the single "Cappuccino" in 2007. Flexing a genre-bending sound that fused hip-hop, rock, and pop, The Knux was embraced by hipsters, bloggers, and mass media alike, dominating the festival circuit and scoring a deal with Interscope for its debut album, Remind Me in 3 Days.... The Knux's follow-up, Eraser, appeared three years later, though by then the duo's initial buzz had faded and countless other groups had hit the scene with similar musical vibes and L.A. cool-kid fashion sense. On the Ktown EP (named after the brothers' Koreatown neighborhood), The Knux hits us with five new tracks loaded with catchy hooks, relatable rhymes, '80s references, and guitar-laced production. Not all of it works, but there are definitely potential hits in the mix, including the bluesy, smoked-out single "Toke Up" and the bass-heavy head-nodder "Sex Talk."
