Details
[Edit]Sing and Play Their Current Hits isn't exactly a greatest-hits collection, but neither was it recorded as an album. The songs are taken from various sessions recorded between 1960-1962, including the three hits the Louvin Brothers charted in the '60s. "How's the World Treating You" and "Must You Throw Dirt in My Face" were relatively minor entries, while the old-fashioned "I Love You Best of All" nearly reached the Top Ten. Ken Nelson's production alternates between the modern Nashville sound of "I Can't Keep You in Love With Me" and the more traditional approach for which the duo is known. "I Ain't Gonna Work Tomorrow" is handled as a commercial folk number with prominent banjo, an instrument that also features heavily in "Ruby's Song." While by no means a representative anthology, Sing and Play Their Current Hits offers a fair look at the Louvin Brothers' early-'60s output.
