[Edit]Atypical of a band's final album, Lovely Sunday Dreaming depicts the beginning of the end in that its greatness is matched by frustration and apathy. Indeed, the Mystreated improved immeasurably as singers, musicians, and songwriters. And moments of this album are almost brilliant. "Universal Energy" achieves the psychedelic/folk-rock hybrid that the Byrds mastered with Younger Than Yesterday, but as the band continued to further explore their current interests it became apparent that they were also distancing a number of their more garage-fuzz-orientated devotees. It also seemed that there was an uncertainty in which direction they wanted to move, and a number of particularly uninspired numbers marks this. Shortly after this record was released, the split occurred, which is a great shame as it could have ushered in a new audience of contemporary pop fans. ~ Jon "Mojo" Mills, Rovi
