[Edit]Born from sessions in Bangkok headed up by the DJ team of Maft Sai and Chris Menist (who also put together the acclaimed Sound of Siam collections), PBMIB are an East-meets-West combo that take molam music from Northeast Thailand and add elements of rock, disco, dub, and Western folk music. The resulting instrumentals are more laid-back and spacy than those of the similar Dengue Fever outfit out of Los Angeles. Highlights here include the Krautrock-like “Sao Sakit Mae,” the dubby “Roob Lor Pu Tai,” the retro-rock of “Studio Lam Plearn,” and the Indian-ish “Zerng India Prayuk.”
