[Edit]Proving once and for all that no genre of music is immune from the encroachment of holiday albums, Healing Holiday Classics is a collection of watery new age renditions of a familiar set of holiday tunes, from "The First Noel" to the urban Christmas classic "Silver Bells." "Soothing" is definitely the operative word here, if not exactly healing: these are completely straightforward solo piano renditions of these tunes that largely stick to the familiar melodies, so it's not exactly an ambient drone record. Still, there are certainly times in the pre-holiday rush when just this sort of quiet, reflective music — preferably in concert with a cup of hot tea, a mug of cocoa, or a snifter of brandy — is just what's required.
