Details
[Edit]This is the Prodigals' debut recording from 1997 when they were a quintet. Although in its formative stages, their groove-heavy approach to Celtic rock is evident on this album. In addition to music of Irish origin, they also explore bluegrass and other American folk styles as heard in "Bowling Green" and "Cumberland Beggar." Fiddler and harmonica player Alex Tobias provides distinct flavoring to the Prodigals' music, which was noticeably absent on their follow-up recording Go On, but it's the adept and accommodating playing of button accordion player Gregory Grene that best defines their music. Clearly this is a band that is willing to try new approaches to distinguish themselves from the growing contingency of homogeneous Celtic rock groups.
