Details
[Edit]Call them a mutated version of the World Saxophone Quartet; the Remote Viewers are Adrain Northover on soprano and alto saxophones, Louise Petts on alto saxophone, voice, and synthesizer, and David Petts on tenor saxophone and synthesizer. All twelve tracks pack a punch, with some of the numbers exploring free modalities, others a more restrained jazzy syncopation, and still others humor-tinged escapades. There is even a fairly straight "It Was a Very Good Year," with a lovely vocal. Most of the lyrics were written by Louise Petts, and they are well-designed avant-tone poems, with the sound of the words as important as their meanings. All three saxophones comfortably negotiate the edges, and the synthesizer adds depth and timbre. The dense colors attract, though the variety diminishes the focus ever so slightly.
