[Edit]Fans of The Rocky Horror Picture Show—the 1975 cult film adaptation of Richard O'Brien's 1973 British horror comedy stage musical The Rocky Horror Show—are well aware of the many soundtrack renditions that have surfaced over the decades. There’s an audience-participation rendition and a version with lead vocals extracted for karaoke-inspired sing-alongs, as well as various tribute and stage musical recordings. This 2011 special edition boasts the entire film soundtrack, including previously unreleased numbers that fans have longed for since the mid-‘70s. The first of these is “The Sword of Damocles,” a boogie-rocking number sung by the man himself, Rocky Horror (as played by Peter Hinwood). Also of note is the ballad “Once in a While” by Brad Majors (played by Barry Bostwick) and the riff-rocking “Planet Schmanet Janet,” sung by Tim Curry’s iconic character Dr. Frank-N-Furter. (He also sings “Planet Hot Dog.”) And of course all the fan favorites are here in their Halloween glam glory, like Little Nell’s “The Time Warp,” the gender-bending “Sweet Transvestite,” and the Meatloaf-sung malt-shop rocker “Hot Patootie—Bless My Soul.”
