[Edit]After a well-received debut album, the Seattle sextet Citizens added “& Saints” to their name and upped the electronica content in their music. Join the Triumph reflects these changes while maintaining the band’s roots in traditional Christian hymnody. Zach Bolen’s passionate, slightly pain-wracked lead vocals are surrounded by gritty guitars, roaring synths, and thunderous drums, lending a moody sort of grandeur to “The Strife Is Over,” “There Is a Fountain,” and “You Have Searched Me.” A stark, soul-bearing take on the 1863 hymn “Before the Throne” offers the album’s most unadorned declaration of faith.
