The Stray Birds are classically trained multi-instrumentalists who play guitar, dobro, fiddle, banjo, piano, and upright bass. Sounding like Gillian Welch and David Rawlins with a touch more pop polish, the trio blend old-time folk and modern Americana. The arrangements are thoughtful, and the execution is sublime. The three have been making music together since childhood, and the familiarity shows in the airtight harmonies and fluid interplay of the instruments. Standouts include “Feathers & Bone,” “The Bells,” and the title track, but any of these tunes are good enough to grab attention.
