Details
[Edit]The 1992 edition of the String Trio of New York consisted of original members James Emery on guitar and bassist John Lindberg, plus the great violinist Regina Carter. In addition to two originals apiece by Emery and Lindberg and one by Carter, the unique inside/outside group performs Wayne Shorter's "Ju-Ju," Ornette Coleman's "Peace," Eric Dolphy's "17 West," Thelonious Monk's "Ruby My Dear," Herbie Nichols' rarely played "House Party Starting," and a bop medley on this well-rounded CD. Due to the diversity of material, the adventurous improvisations, and the high musicianship, this release serves as a perfect introduction to the music of the String Trio of New York.
