[Edit]The duo of Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee recruit a half-dozen guests to bulk out much of their twee sound on their second album since reforming in 2008. Kelly, who produces here, credits seeing a Ramones cover band for this album’s inspiration, and it’s easy to hear in the obvious chug of “Crazy Lady” and the playful backing vocals on “One Lost Year.” For genuine twee, there’s the sweet ballad “Single Spies.” Other songs—“The Lonely LP” (sung from a vinyl album’s viewpoint), “Inky Lies,” “High Tide Low Tide”—feature captivating melodies with fuller backing, occasionally reminiscent of Kelly’s days in Eugenius.
